An open-source optimisation model of the Chinese energy system covering electricity and heat. It co-optimises dispatch and investment under user-set constraints — for example limits on environmental impact — at provincial resolution and hourly time steps across a full year.
The workflow is a Snakemake pipeline around the PyPSA package: it collects data, builds the network, solves, and plots. It descends from the model first published by Hailiang Liu and colleagues, extended by Xiaowei Zhou and colleagues for multi-energy horizon planning, and adapted by the PIK RD3-ETL team with a view to coupling it to the REMIND integrated assessment model.
Repository note: this fork carries the upstream PIK README. The 2035 NDC scenario definitions, Draworld-specific inputs and a results summary still need to be written up here.
